The Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association extends membership opportunities to funeral firms conducting business in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as well as to funeral directors licensed to practice in New York State including those who may be registered as inactive with the New York State Bureau of Funeral Directing. Special introductory memberships are offered to students who are enrolled in an approved mortuary science program.

Regular Firm Membership

Firms licensed by the State of New York and doing business as a funeral home within Nassau or Suffolk Counties. Regular Firm Membership includes membership for one designee who represents the firm on voting matters.

Affiliate Membership

A funeral director licensed by the State of New York whose primary employment is with a firm that sponsors a Regular Firm Membership with the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association. Affiliate members are entitled to one vote, as well as all correspondence and attendance at Association functions.

Colleague Membership

A funeral director licensed by the State of New York who resides in Nassau or Suffolk County and whose primary employment is with a firm not sponsoring a Regular Firm Membership with the Nassau-Suffolk Funeral Directors Association. Colleague members are entitled to one vote, as well as all correspondence and attendance at Association functions.

Emeritus Membership

A funeral director licensed by the State of New York who is currently registered as inactive with the Bureau of Funeral Directing, and whose principal prior employment was with a firm conducting business in Nassau or Suffolk County. Emeritus members are entitled to all  correspondence and attendance at Association functions, but are not entitled to vote.

Student Membership

Individuals living in New York State who are currently enrolled in an accredited mortuary science school and is registered with the New York State Department of Health as a student of mortuary science; or is serving as a Registered Resident with a funeral firm conducting business in Nassau or Suffolk County. Student membership automatically terminates upon the completion of residency or separation from a mortuary science school. Student members are entitled to all  correspondence and attendance at Association functions, but are not entitled to vote.
